You may have a few questions

How big are they?

About two-thirds the height of a bottle of red and about three times wider.

Are they heavy?

No.The table top BBQ is but 2 kg of timelessly molded terracotta.

Are they easy to light?

Yes. You light some kindling in the base of the BBQ which in turn soon has the charcoal in the upper basin glowing. Alternatively you can use firelighters to get things going. Once you have an even bed of charcoal a glowing then you are good to begin cooking. This takes about 15 minutes. Additional charcoal may need to be added to maintain sufficient heat…see how you go.

Can i place them directly on a table top?

No. Please note that being terracotta these BBQs do conduct heat and it is best to place them on a ceramic tile (see photo) to avoid burning or marking the table’s surface. If you are thinking of placing them on a wooden table….don’t. Even with a ceramic tile under the BBQ it will mark the table after a while so the tip is to stick rubber pads under the tile and these will stop the heat from conducting. Also watch out for inquisitive little fingers…don’t let the children touch the hot terracotta.

It’s best to use a heat proof mat to avoid any heat damage.

Can i use them indoors?

No. The Table Top BBQ is to be used in an outdoor setting where there is ample ventilation and no danger of burning your cherished possessions.

Where do i buy charcoal from?

There are a number of options. We buy 50kg bags at the local wood yard however you can buy BBQ briquettes at supermarkets and hardware stores such as Bunnings, Mitre 10 etc.

Please beware that some heat beads will give off carbon monoxide when lit….DO NOT USE THESE. Just check the packaging details before buying or using. Pure charcoal is by far the best option….your food will taste delicious.

What will i need to complement the Table Top BBQ?

To get you going each BBQ will be sold with the cooking grill seen in the photo plus chopsticks and sauce dishes. Additionally it’s good to have bowls for each person, dishes for serving marinated meat, vegetables, rice and so on. If you have a Vietnamese community in your town then search it out and you can stock up cheaply here.
