Welcome to the Table-top BBQ

The table top BBQ breaks new ground…bringing the blokes and the ladies together, designed to be the centre of attention on the table.

Perfect for unit-dwellers who might be spatially challenged or just for those more intimate BBQ moments.

All the rage, in Viet Nam, one table top BBQ can cook for four people.

Entire restaurants are dedicated to these little beauties. The idea is for each person to cook a few morsels at any one time similar to fondues. The trick is to prepare your strips of chicken, beef, calamari, vegetables etc. ahead of time, to be grilled over charcoal, along with special fried rice and authentic Vietnamese dipping sauces. Enjoy.

Better Homes & Gardens magazine will be featuring them in their February “BBQ-special” issue hitting the street on 9th January.

How can I get one of these? Is there a shop in Melbourne that I could purchase one?

    Thanks.

i have put the measurements on the site…under the “About” section…comparing the BBQ to a bottle of wine… “About two-thirds the height of a bottle of red and about three times wider.” and they are about 3kg.
They are packed in a small square box which includes the chopsticks and sauce dishes.
let me know if you need more info

I live in Lilydale and was wondering if there is a closer stockist? The Prahan Market is the closest one listed on your website and it is a long way to go to get there and find they have sold out.

    Thank you
    Gayle

How do you light them if you can,t use firelighters and are the BBQ briquettes(heatbeads)the right ones? Maybe a leaflet would help those unsure of how to use it properly.Cowes Cleanskins ordered them after I heard the 3AW interview.Bought my first one on Saturday. Roll on summer!

Hi Diane, by all means use firelighters to get the charcoal going. Please check out the ‘about’ section on the site where i mention this. I just want to ensure that no one cooks until the firelighters have done their job…wouldn’t want to cook with those petroleum white lumps.
Enjoy your BBQ and be sure to check out the recipes on the site, martyn

I had the pleasure of spending a day with Dave and Phuong at Bai Dai beach a couple of weeks ago as part of a tour that brought us the length of Vietnam. Reports of this BBQ serving 4 are incorrect. Our group was 12-strong and Dave and Phuong managed to keep us well fed and thoroughly satisfied. I’ll be picking up one of these BBQ’s for my home in Northern New Jersey, USA. Sincere thanks to Dave and Phuong, you two were wonderful hosts.

Fair point Brian and thanks for your comment. Mind you with Dave and Phuong you had the luxury of two tabletopBBQ ‘professionals.’ Many people try and cook large portions of meat whereas lots of smaller marinated pieces works best. Glad you’ve converted to the best way of eating…slowly with friends over time.
